Preamble claim terms are limiting when they provide antecedent basis for and are necessary to understand positive limitations in the body of the claim.  Pacing Techs., LLC v. Garmin Int'l, Inc., 778 F.3d 1021, 1023-24 (Fed. Cir. 2015); see also Beere & Co. v. Bush Hog, LLC, 703 F3d 1349, 1357-58 (Fed. Cir. 2012) (holding the term "rotary cutter deck" in claim preamble was limiting where body of claim referred to "said deck," and the preamble was necessary to understand the subject matter encompassed by the claim and was a fundamental characteristic of the claimed invention).
